Overview of our Research

There is a very active research community in Mathematics at University of Galway, comprising full time academic staff and postdoctoral and PhD researchers. Our research spans a wide range of mathematical topics, with  particular strengths in Algebra and Combinatorics, Analysis and Computational Mathematics. 

Many of our researchers are supported by external funding from Research Ireland and Horizon Europe. We regularly host major international conferences and host visits from world-leading researchers.

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
