Overview of our Research
The Institute for Creativity is a new research institute at University of Galway. It operates across Colleges, Schools, and Disciplines to foster and develop creativity as a component of research activity. While open to all research that engages creativity in its methods, concepts, or modes of dissemination, the Institute has particular interest in:
· Interdisciplinary research development
· Practice-based and artistic research
· Research on arts, culture, media, and the creative industries
· Theoretical and methodological innovation
· Projects that foreground creative approaches to knowledge production
What is Meant by Creativity?
The Institute approaches creativity as an innate human capacity that is a constitutive dimension of research across disciplines rather than as a discipline-specific attribute. Creativity shapes how knowledge is produced, tested, communicated, and translated across fields - from artistic research and cultural analysis to scientific experimentation, technological innovation, and research design.
