Overview of our Research

French at University of Galway is a dynamic and ambitious discipline, passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience and committed to attaining excellence in both teaching and research. Colleagues are active in a diverse area of research activities including: Francophone Literatures (Québec, Antilles, Algeria), History and Politics of French Decolonisation, Poetic Form and Colonial Context, History and Sociology of French Sport and Leisure, 19th Century French Studies, Gender Studies, Women’s Writing, Medieval Literature, French Language Teaching and New Technologies, Translation Technology, Literature and Spirituality, French Language for Specific Purposes (Business, Legal, Scientific), French politics, French Media, Belgian Comics, Children’s Fiction, Gothic Literature and Detective Novels.
