This module lays a broad foundation in physics, both for students who will continue to study physics in subsequent years of their degree programme and for those who will continue to study other subjects. No prior knowledge of physics is assumed, though a significant minority of students (perhaps 33%) will have a Leaving Certificate qualification in physics. The level of mathematics required is simple algebra and trigonometry.
