Title CBAS 2005-2025 Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet LinkedIn Media type Web Duration/Length/Size Paragraph and photo Country/Territory Ireland Date 26/03/25 Description Well here's something that aged like milk. A piece in the Evening Herald from back in 2005 giving out about research investments in Ireland. Turns out that IDA Ireland were right all along, very right. Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer made huge investments in Ireland since then employing many thousand's of staff. Our Center for BioAnalytical Science (CBAS) project between Bristol Myers Squibb, University of Galway, and Dublin City University which ran until 2009 contributed a bit to this and was directly responsible for many new research investments and jobs in academia and industry. My lab still works in this space, following on work we started in CBAS with BMS and the research investments made by the IDA and Research Ireland are still continuing to deliver. So the take home message is that investments in research sometimes take time to pay out, but when they do, they pay out big.
Maybe someone in the comments might be able to say just how many jobs were eventually produced...Producer/Author Alan Ryder URL https://www.linkedin.com/posts/alan-ryder-31a0639_science-research-bioanalytical-activity-7310721044053397504-6r4P?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAGcDAYB-DeuY3kbDR3rdFHqOQDI7SxhAJU Persons Alan Ryder
