Advocacy. While serving on national committees or in an Officer role of the IoPI, RIA and ASGI organizations, I helped to coordinate a community response to national research priorities actions. In one particular action, I sought letters of support from local industry in the push for Ireland to join ESO.. Building an evidence-based case, including industrial support, for Ireland to become a member of the European Southern Observatory.
Using the media (Irish Times) to push for basic research funding to be re-instated after SFI policy changes effectively ended it.
