The Social Sciences Research Centre (SSRC) was founded in 1965 1966 in order to exploit the intrinsic strength of an interdisciplinary approach to research at University College Galway (UCG), then the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), now the University of Galway. As the SSRC now stands some fifth years after its inception, it embraces the full range of the social sciences, together with interested individuals from areas as disparate as Medicine, Health Promotion and Industrial Engineering, in many broad aspects of innovative and reflective social scientific research.
