From Hidden Hands to REcognised Leaders: Women Driving Change in Agriculture

This presentation explores the evolving role of women in agriculture, moving from historically hidden and under-recognised contributions to a future where their impact is visible, valued, and supported. Drawing on insights from the Horizon Europe FLIARA (Female-Led Innovation in Agriculture and Rural Areas) project, it highlights how women are leading innovation, strengthening rural communities, and shaping more sustainable agricultural futures. The presentation will also reflect on persistent gender inequalities and the need to better recognise women’s roles in decision-making, succession, and leadership across the sector. It ultimately calls for more inclusive policies and practices that actively support and empower women as central actors in agricultural and rural development.
