Description
Advisory the Seanad Public Consultation Committee on Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Ireland (Seanad Éireann, House of the Oireachtas (National Parliament). Led by Senator Pádraig Ó Céidigh, the overall aim of the Seanad Public Consultation Committee was to create the basis for an integrated national strategy proposal document to support the fostering, growth and sustainability of indigenous Irish SMEs. As an academic advisor, I led a programme of research - both desk and primary research - to understand the characteristics of the SME sector in Ireland and explore the challenges faced by Irish SMEs. Based on this research I crafted a proposed national strategy to support the development of the SME sector and produced 129 recommendations, which are set out in the report published in May 2019 entitled "Seanad Public Consultation Committee Report on Small and Medium Sized Businesses in Ireland". In November 2019, the Statements on the report was delivered by the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation and since then a number of the recommendations have been implemented by Enterprise Ireland and incorporated into Government manifestos.Period | 1 May 2018 → 1 May 2019 |
